  t’s year 4!!!

SLAM Magazine began in 2020 during the pandemic, and through weekly Zoom calls and distanced collaboration, we produced two issues. This year, we are excited to create more art and writing to bring light to various social issues and unite our community.

ur mission at SLAM is to destigmatize racial and ethnic differences by amplifying voices from underrepresented people and groups through art. Racism still festers in our policy and throughout our society— many students and youth in our community are deeply impacted by this. Through our writing and art, we hope to not only spread awareness, but also to motivate our readers to be active in fighting against racism, ethnic nationalism, and other intersectional issues.

ur goal for this year is to connect with more members of our community as well as to provide more spaces for discourse and to educate with the platform we have. We hope that SLAM helps our readers view the issues of our society with compassion and a wide lens as we strive to bring nuance to these essential conversations.
